Obama gets brutally DEBUNKED by fact-checkers after attempting to white-knight for Ilhan Omar

Former President Barack Obama once again inserted himself into the wrong side of a legal discussion after chiming in to defend Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar.
Obama — who was sharply criticized during his presidency for meddling in cases such as the Trayvon Martin murder trial and the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates — was brutally ratioed on X with Community Notes pointing out the many errors in his screed.
It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

However, notes citing the New York Post and Washington Post both noted that there was no documentation showing that Omar’s father ever was naturalized.
USCIS letter and DHS ‘Certificate of Nonexistence of Record’ provides Ilhan Omar’s father never naturalized…. There’s no record of his naturalization. Therefore, Ilhan Omar’s narrative that she ‘derived’ citizenship at the age of 17, through her father when he naturalized, cannot be true!

A separate AI-generated note pointed out that “Omar's birth year listed as 1981 in MN records & Wikipedia until 2019 change after scrutiny, sparking fraud probe into immigration docs,” while citing the left-wing fact-checking site Snopes as its source.
Obama also bogusly claimed that “the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing.”
However, a fact check debunked this by noting that a federal judge had authorized the warrant based on probable cause for the raid.
“The search was conducted pursuant to a judicially authorized warrant,” it said, citing the Jurist.org site run by law students. “A federal magistrate judge in Washington, D.C., determined there was probable cause to believe evidence of a federal crime was located at the premises.”
Still another pointed out that the judge in question was not even a Trump judge but a liberal one.
Magistrate Judge Matthew Sharbaugh is a former Hillary Clinton donor and registered Democrat who was sworn in by none other than Trump-hating Judge Jeb Boasberg.
The Berklee College of Music graduate also clerked with D.C. Circuit Judge Robert L. Wilkins, who was appointed by Obama himself.
So… Matthew Sharbaugh is likely the Magistrate Judge who signed off on the Ilhan Omar warrant. A registered Dem who… Taught at GW. Clerked for BO judge. Donated to Hillary. Appointed by Dems. Sworn in by Boasberg. The evidence against Ilhan Omar must be devastating.

But Community Noters weren’t finished picking Obama apart just yet.
Several took issue with Obama’s opening statement that “It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say.”
Obama’s fact-checkers pointed to a litany of examples that illustrated Obama doing just that, including the IRS targeting scandal ahead of his own 2012 midterm reelection, for which top official Lois Lerner was held in contempt of Congress after pleading the 5th to avoid testimony.
Others pointed out Obama’s direct role in the Russiagate conspiracy.
“During the Obama administration, the FBI conducted operation Crossfire Hurricane which relied on FISA applications containing 17 significant errors in order to surveil Trump campaign adviser Carter Page as a political rival,” said a note citing a report from the office of the DOJ Inspector General.
Unfortunately for Obama, whose own provenance has long been a source of speculation, immigration officials were unmoved by his faulty and spurious arguments.
Trump administration border czar Tom Homan told Fox News on Saturday that Omar may be subject to denaturalization if the facts in the case bear out as expected.
Omar “will be held to the same standards you and I are held to,” Homan said.

"If she violated law then she'd be held accountable," he said on @BigWeekendShow, noting federal agents are following the evidence in their investigations. His comments come days after federal agents raided Omar's home in Washington, D.C., as part of a criminal investigation reportedly involving her immigration paperwork.
