Mitch McConnell after he announced he would be stepping down. In a floor  speech on Wednesday, McConnell announced that he would step down as the leader of Senate Republicans in November. The longtime establishment Republican said he would serve out his term in the Senate, which ends in January 2027. Yet, many of those same people endlessly expound on guns, despite their complete ignorance on the subject. We constantly hear them describing ordinary AR-15s as automatics or machine guns, or some other such nonsense. It never occurs to them that the problem, if there is one, isn't the gun, but the person behind it. Somehow, it's always the evil gun's fault and that's why they must be banned. However, when you're on the Supreme Court, you would think that they would have a little more knowledge, particularly if they're going to be considering a case involving guns, that they wouldn't be making idiotic comments. This, of course, is the case with almost every negligent discharge in human history, particularly when someone else was hurt. Yet that never really made a lot of sense. Yes, it's a single-action pistol and those could be tricky back in the day, but most have safety features today that prevent such a thing. Still, Baldwin has insisted. Right now, though, armorer Hannah Reed-Gutierrez is on trial for the death, which means she and her attorneys have to at least create a reasonable doubt about whether she's responsible.
