"We need to hear from you STAT!" the message from the Army's head of personnel, Lt. Gen. Thomas Seamands, read. The Army's retirees took that seriously. "We reached out to more than 800,000 retired Soldiers to gauge their willingness to assist with the COVID-19 pandemic response," an Army spokesperson told Military.com Friday. To date, more than 14,000 retirees "representing various specialties" have contacted the service for more information, he said. Army leaders made the decision late last week to suspend the ACFT start date, as it is unclear when soldiers will have access to the fitness equipment needed to prepare for the more challenging fitness test, Lt. Col. Robin Ochoa told Military.com. The Army unveiled its plan to replace the current three-event Army Physical Fitness Test with the six-event ACFT in July 2018, a move that launched a year-long field test involving 60 battalions of soldiers, as well as contract awards for special fitness equipment to administer the new test. Jockey CEO Debra Waller said her company made parachutes during previous wars. Now, they're making between 30,000 and 50,000 medical gowns a week. United Technologies Corporation will donate more than 1 million pieces of PPE next week. The company has sent out 90,000 pieces this week alone. Ford Motor Company bill be making 50,000 ventilators in the next 100 days. My Pillow shifted 75 percent of its production capacity to making N95 medical masks. The Daily Mail reported on Sunday that "senior Downing Street officials said the Communist state now faces a ‘reckoning’ over its handling of the outbreak and risks becoming a 'pariah state.'" An unnamed senior government official told the DM, "The only priority now is to deal with the crisis, but everybody knows that there has to be a reckoning when all this is over."
