Former Hillary Clinton Donor Announces $300,000 Donation to Trump after Guilty Verdict
Venture capitalist and former Hillary Clinton donor Sean Maguire announced he had donated $300,000 to Trump’s campaign following his guilty verdict on Thursday, stating he refuses to “live in a society where people are afraid to speak.”
The former president was convicted on all 34 counts on Thursday.
The news came as many decried the verdict as a symbol of America’s final descent into a third-world banana republic.
Maguire was one of many high-profile people who began supporting Trump following the verdict.
“I just donated $300k to President Trump,” Maguire posted on X.
“The timing isn’t a coincidence.”

The venture capitalist, who donated to and voted for Hillary in 2016, also posted a lengthy article explaining his decision.
“I know that I’ll lose friends for this. Some will refuse to do business with me,” he began.
“The media will probably demonize me, as they have so many others before me.”
“But despite this, I still believe it’s the right thing to do,” wrote Maguire.
“I refuse to live in a society where people are afraid to speak,” he added.
Maguire said Biden’s debacle in Afghanistan and his fostering of foreign wars were the main reasons why he will no longer be voting for Democrats.
He also added that he had “spent hundreds of hours following the trials and researching the charges against Trump,” concluding they were all politicized, underhanded forms of “lawfare” designed to derail Trump’s presidential campaign.
“If these are the worst things they can find, then he did less wrong then I otherwise would have assumed,” wrote Maguire.
“There’s a real chance President Trump is convicted of felony charges and sentenced to prison,” he said.
Meanwhile, billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, who previously demanded Trump resign and “apologize to all Americans” for January 6, is planning to announce his support for Trump.
