By BREITBART LONDON MADRID (AP) – A diplomatic spat between Spain and Italy over the rush of tens of thousands of migrants to the Spanish territory of Ceuta escalated on Saturday after the government in Madrid announced border controls on Italian travelers in response to Rome’s decision to impose sanctions on visitors from Spain. Italians arriving at Barcelona airport were subject to random police checks after the controls were put into effect overnight, according to Spain's state news agency EFE. The Spanish government said the controls would stay in place for at least a month after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni rejected Spain´s warning on Friday that it would take “proportionate measures to protect the interests and dignity of its citizens” if Rome didn't lift its own restrictions by an Aug. 9 deadline. By David Manney President Donald Trump got handed an ugly jobs headline Friday. The economy lost 23,000 payroll jobs in July, and revisions erased another 103,000 jobs from May and June . Both nonfarm payroll employment (-23,000) and the unemployment rate (4.1 percent) changed little in July, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment declined in local government education and retail trade. Employment continued to trend up in health care. This news release presents statistics from two monthly surveys. The household survey measures labor force status, including unemployment, by demographic characteristics. The establishment survey measures nonfarm employment, hours, and earnings by industry. That's one reason why having the prosecution of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering venued in Alabama, not in D.C. or in the Southern District of New York, is such a huge plus. The judge assigned to that case, United States District Judge Emily C. Marks, ruled Friday against SPLC's motion to dismiss the indictment, in which it argued that "it is being vindictively prosecuted at the behest of various political actors—including the President of the United States—for engaging in speech protected under the First Amendment." The suit, which was filed on Aug. 3, alleges the denial violated the U.S. Constitution, the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, and Oklahoma law by discriminating against Muslims. The city of Broken Arrow said in an email to The Epoch Times that it does not comment on lawsuits. The city acknowledged on July 28 that the U.S. Department of Justice had started an investigation into the matter. “The City Council and Administration are fully engaged with the DOJ in its investigation,” the city stated, adding it would have no further comment. The article cited an investigation by the World Zionist Organization (WZO)’s Department of Combating Antisemitism, which investigates antisemitism online as well as in the "real world." The cyber team reviewed hundreds of posts, finding connections between suspected bot accounts and their distribution patterns.
