© Greg Nash Senate Minority Leader  Charles Schumer  (D-N.Y.) said on Friday that Majority Leader  Mitch McConnell  (R-Ky.) should force members of his caucus to call off hearings and business meetings scheduled next week as part of GOP investigations tied to the Obama administration.  Schumer, in a letter sent to Senate Democrats, said Republicans have become the "conspiracy caucus." "The Republican-led Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees — two powerful committees with broad jurisdiction over issues related to the coronavirus — have instead used their majority to chase wild conspiracy theories to appease  President Trump ," Schumer wrote. "They have failed the American people by turning the institutions of the Senate into an extension of the President’s re-election campaign. ... [The] Republican Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold yet another hearing, not on the pandemic, but on baseless conspiracy th...

NEW YORK — Mayor Bill de Blasio sought to defend both protesters and police and Gov. Andrew Cuomo signaled support for a long sought criminal justice reform after a spate of violent clashes in New York City Friday night, as the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer has drawn thousands to the streets in cities across the U. S. Images of police vehicles set ablaze and officers attacking protesters in Brooklyn spread across social media throughout the night and early morning amid a chaotic protest that left hundreds of protesters and cops injured and hospitalized, officials said. De Blasio laid some blame for the national protests at the feet of President Donald Trump. “There’s been an uptick in tension and hatred and division since [Trump] came along,” the mayor said in response to a reporter’s question Saturday. “It’s just a fact.” But he spent much of his Saturday press briefing defending police and protesters while calling out aggression on both sides of...

(FOX 9)  -  Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter said Saturday that a vast majority of the rioters causing destruction are from out of state. Mayor Carter said all of the people arrested in St. Paul overnight were from out of state. "This is no longer about protesting, this is about violence," Mayor Frey said. "I want to be clear, the people who are doing this are not Minneapolis residents.” "We are under assault by people who do not honor our values," Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said in a press conference Saturday. Walz  activated the full Minnesota National Guard  in response to the riots.  “The message is clear, Minnesota: we had a tragedy on Monday night, we understand the work we need to do and the generational pain that went into what happened with George Floyd and that murder. But at this point in time, nothing we do to address these inequities, nothing we do to provide justice to George Floyd and...

The tweet that was flagged by Twitter said, “These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen,” he tweeted. “Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty, and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!” According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Lightfoot said, “We see the game he’s playing because it’s so transparent and he’s not very good at it. He wants to show failures on the part of Democratic local leaders to throw red meat to his base. Hi...

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—Colin Kaepernick arrived at the Minneapolis riots last night, saying he was excited to be a part of the looting and violence. Kaepernick tried out for the riots by throwing bricks into windows but missed every time. He was able to rush a Molotov cocktail into a target window and then spike it on the ground, but then he caught fire. Finally, in a last-ditch effort to get selected for one of the riot squads, he filmed a workout video and sent it to various protester organizations but hadn't heard back as of publishing time. "While we appreciate Kaepernick's enthusiasm, we need someone who can lob a Molotov cocktail accurately," said a representative for the rioters. "We wish him the best of luck in his future rioting career. We believe Kaepernick will land on his feet with another rioting organization. Maybe Chicago or Louisville will want him." The former quarterback quickly blamed his failed rioting career on racism. https:/...

By JOSHUA CAPLAN Former President Barack Obama on Friday weighed in on the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, asserting racism in the United States is “tragically, painfully, maddeningly ‘normal.’” “It’s natural to wish for life ‘to just get back to normal’ as a pandemic and economic crisis upend everything around us,” Obama said in a statement shared to social media. “But we have to remember that for millions of Americans, being treated differently on account of race is tragically, painfully, maddeningly ‘normal’ — whether it’s while dealing with the health care system, or interacting with the criminal justice system, or jogging down the street, or just watching birds in the park.” My statement on the death of George Floyd: pic.twitter.com/Hg1k9JHT6R — Barack Obama (@BarackObama) May 29, 2020 “This shouldn’t be ‘normal’ in 2020 America. Indian media says thousands of Chinese troops are believed to be inside the Indian territory along the de facto border. By Saif Khalid On May 5, a scuffle broke out between Indian and Chinese troops at the Pangong Tso lake, located 14,000 feet (4,270 metres) above the sea level in the Himalayan region of Ladakh. A video shot by an Indian soldier and shared on social media showed soldiers from both nations engaged in fistfights and stone-pelting at the de facto border, known as Line of Actual Control (LAC). The incident, which continued until the next day, resulted in 11 soldiers being injured on both sides. Three days later and nearly 1,200km (745 miles) away to the east along the LAC, another fight erupted at Nathu La Pass in the Indian state of Sikkim after Indian soldiers stopped a patrol party from China's People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Both countries downplayed the incidents and the issues were resolved at the local commander level, as has general...
