Watch: Khanna Gets Hoisted by His Own Petard, As He's Eaten Alive by Leftist Interviewer on Israel

By Nick Arama

Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) has had a tough two weeks in his effort to pander to the Democrats' far-left base.

First, his over-the-top support for Graham Platner, the former Democratic candidate for the Senate in Maine, backfired on him when Platner had to withdraw after a rape allegation. Of course, there were plenty of other signs before that he was a problem, but Khanna and other Democrats basically shoved those concerns to the side.

Then he embarrassed himself with his "detention" in the West Bank story with a New York Times photographer in tow, with people calling him out for pulling a stunt to announce his "long-shot" run for president in 2028.

But if Khanna thought that would be enough for folks on the left, he found himself sadly mistaken when he went on Dropsite News and was cornered by their co-founder, Jeremy Scahill, who wanted Khanna to answer if the attacks on Israeli soldiers were justified during the October 7 massacre. Watch as Khanna is surprised and stumbling, as he realizes even his performance art wasn't enough for these guys. Talk about the left eating the left.

“Israeli civilians are dying in these attacks because of the apartheid,” Scahill asserted before asking, “Do Palestinians have a right to kill Israeli soldiers, Congressman? On Oct. 7, when they attacked the military bases in the Gaza envelope, did the Qassam Brigades and Saraya Al-Quds have a right to kill Israeli soldiers, yes or no?”

Khanna indicated he thought it was a terrorist attack. Khanna said Israel had a right to fight back, but then he claimed they went too far, committing "genocide."

Now, this is all a moot effort on the part of Scahill because Hamas didn't just kill soldiers; they killed and raped civilians, on purpose. They took civilians hostage and put them through all kinds of torment. And it's Hamas who had de facto control of Gaza, so that also doesn't help his argument.

Scahill accused Khanna of being afraid of being called "pro-Hamas," saying he bet if he spoke to him off camera, he would agree they had a right to "resist." That says a lot about how even these leftists think he's basically hypocritical. But if there's anyone who needs to resist, it's the people of Gaza who need to resist Hamas. Khanna doesn't do a good job of calling out the holes in the rant at him.

This exchange might teach someone with a conscience that he was moving in the wrong direction, trying to appeal to the radical base because he wants to be president. But although Khanna realized the pickle he placed himself in, I wouldn't bet he'll learn from it, given what we've seen from him and how much he seems to want to pander.

But again, it shows how far afield the left has gone, and why they need to be rejected.
