Empty Chairs Speak Louder Than Words: Dems Ghost Senate Fraud Hearing Featuring Nick Shirley, O'Keefe

By Bob Hoge

Democrats have shown little interest in helping clean up the massive fraud going on in nutrition programs, healthcare, and COVID relief, especially in places like California, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. In fact, they’ve routinely tried to shame those who point it out or discredit investigators who are shining a light on just how much of our money is being swindled.

When investigator Nick Shirley dropped a three-minute video in March revealing $170 million in fraud, waste, and abuse in California, Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office quickly posted a mocking tweet insinuating that Shirley was some sort of child predator. That tells you all you need to know about the shameless governor.

But we don’t need to ask Democrats what their priorities are — they’ll show you. Nowhere was that more evident than at Wednesday’s Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on government fraud featuring undercover video whiz James O’Keefe and independent investigator Nick Shirley.

Notice there’s an awful lot of empty chairs. You don’t have to ponder too long to guess who they belonged to:

The clip continued:

SEN. BERNIE MORENO (R-OH): So there's no Democrats present at a hearing about fraud?

CHAIRMAN RAND PAUL (R-KY): There doesn't appear to be a great deal of interest across the aisle.

Despicable. They’d be there in force with picket signs if the hearing were about keeping men in girls’ sports, but when it comes to America being fleeced of untold millions of dollars of taxpayer money, they’re nowhere to be found.

Paul pointed out the obvious: the actions of Democrats speak much louder than their words.

Moreno spoke for all of us:
Although O’Keefe, formerly with Project Veritas but now CEO of the O’Keefe Media Group (OMG), had some important things to say, Democrats were too busy protesting somewhere to listen:

Today, I testified before the U.S. Senate at the “Exposing Fraud in America” hearing.

I shared what OMG exposed on hidden camera: petition circulators paying homeless individuals cash and offering drugs in exchange for voter registrations and ballot petition signatures, forged signatures using the names and addresses of real registered voters, and how our reporting helped lead to a federal criminal indictment.

My opening statement to the Committee was simple:

“There is money in fraud. There’s no money in exposing the fraud.”

I am an American journalist that is fed up. My job is to expose the truth. Fraud must be stopped.

If you have evidence of fraud involving Medicaid, USDA, SNAP, unemployment benefits, SBA programs, or other government waste or abuse, we want to hear from you. There are fast acting government agencies that will reform now if we get the evidence.

Your tip could be the start of our next investigation.

At least he, Shirley, other independent journalists, RedState and our managing editor Jennifer Van Laar, and most Republicans take the issue of us being mercilessly ripped off seriously.

Democrats, apparently, don’t give a whit.
