Another Confederate Statue Bites the Dust, and No One Should Be Applauding

Image
By Robert Spencer In Jacksonville, Florida’s Springfield Park, a statue called “Tribute to the Women of the Confederacy” has stood for 108 years. But no more: on Wednesday morning, the statue was uprooted and carted away on the order of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan(D), who justified her action by proclaiming that “symbols matter.” Yes, they do. And that’s why she should have left the statue where it was. USA Today  reported  that Deegan “said the monument was a divisive presence that had no place in a city park.” She added: “Symbols matter. They tell the world what we stand for and what we aspire to be. By removing the Confederate monument from Springfield Park, we signal a belief in our shared humanity. That we are all created equal. The same flesh and bones. The same blood running through our veins. The same heart and soul." Glad that’s cleared up! If anyone in Jacksonville or its environs actually believed that we don’t have a shared humanity and are created equal, w...

Déjà Vu All Over Again: Biden Gets Leveled by His Own Words to Jimmy Carter About Running for Reelection

Image
By Nick Arama Joe Biden is not a man who likes to face reality or to be challenged.  We saw that again when he was asked about the economy and got snippy with a reporter, scolding him to "Start reporting it the right way."  "What's your outlook on the economy next year?" BIDEN: "All good. Take a look! Start reporting it the right way." pic.twitter.com/dpRcDiq16S — RNC Research (@RNCResearch) December 23, 2023 SEE MORE:  Biden Gets Snippy With Reporter Who Dares to Ask Him About Economy, Makes Unwise Comment on 'Immunity' As I noted, the translation for that is that you guys are supposed to be pumping out my talking points, the way I want them reported, not questioning me.  However, inflation, debt, and high interest rates aren't good for the American people, and snippy comments aren't going to change that.  There are not only those issues with the economy but his polls are in the basement, with people believing he isn't up to ...

Money Not Morals May Slow the LGBTQ Insanity

Image
By MILT HARRIS Understanding Democrats, especially far-left radical ones, isn’t that difficult. First, it’s important to grasp that as much as they talk about equality and fairness, they really don’t care about those things at all. In fact, they have no moral compass whatsoever. Next, understand that literally everything that comes out of their mouths will be an attempt to project something that they are doing onto someone else. This projectionism is literally a form of camouflage that they conduct in plain sight. By sounding authoritative while blaming everyone else, they are remarkably effective at fooling the uninformed and the naïve. One of their largest and loudest platforms is a perfect example of their total ignorance of reality, and that platform is transgenderism. I and my fellow writers have contemplated and expounded on the dangers of this defiance of science. The question has always been why a group of Americans, political affiliations aside, pursue something s...

Russia Hits Ukraine With the Largest Air Strike Since the Invasion Began

Image
By RICK MORAN Russia launched 158 drones and missiles at several Ukrainian targets early Friday morning, causing widespread damage and numerous casualties. At least 31 civilians were killed and 150 injured, according to the Ukrainian military. The targets all had little to no military value. The target cities included Kyiv, the central city of Dnipro, Kharkiv, the port of Odesa, and the western city of Lviv, far from the frontlines. “It’s been a long time since we have seen so many enemy targets on our monitors in all regions and all directions,” Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for Ukraine’s air force, told national television. “Everything was being fired.” “Today the enemy has struck a powerful blow. There are downed targets, however unfortunately there are also casualties,” Ihnat added. Poland called the Russian chargé d’affaires of the Russian Federation, Andrei Ordash, to the office of Polish deputy foreign minister WÅ‚adysÅ‚aw Teofil Bartoszewski to explain why a Russian m...

A Look Ahead at the 2A in 2024

Image
By Cam Edwards We’re spending the last Bearing Arms Cam & Co of the year looking (mostly) ahead, with The Reload’s Stephen Gutowski joining today’s show to talk about the challenges and opportunities for Second Amendment defenders in the year to come. We won’t have to wait long for the first big tests of 2024. With the new year comes new gun control laws in some states, and 2A groups have already launched challenges to California’s SB 2, which is set to take effect on Monday. The legislation creates a number of new “gun-free zones” in the state. While U.S. District Judge Cormac Carney has granted an injunction against enforcement of the “sensitive places” challenged in May v. Bonta and Carraleo v. Bonta, the state has already appealed his decision. We’re likely to see an emergency order come down from the Ninth Circuit ahead of the effective date or shortly after. The California Rifle & Pistol Association, along with other Second Amendment organizations including GOA an...

WATCH: IDF Finds Secret Tunnel Under Hamas Leader's 'Safe House,' Blows It to Kingdom Come

Image
By Nick Arama I'm just guessing the Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar's "safe house" isn't very safe for him any more after a visit from the IDF. Sinwar has been on the run and the IDF has been closing in on his hideouts. They just found a big one.  This one that they found on Friday was in Northern Gaza and had a big tunnel system under it . The IDF said it found significant evidence in the apartment that led to its conclusion that Sinwar used it as a hideout. The tunnel shaft was some 20 meters deep, and led to a 218-meter-long tunnel with several branches, according to the IDF. The underground passages featured electricity, air filtration systems, plumbing, resting and prayer rooms, and other equipment aimed at allowing senior Hamas members to remain hidden for long periods. The safehouse was part of an extremely intricate terror tunnel network used by senior Hamas leaders. It was 20 meters deep and included ventilation, electricity, and sewage...

200 Years Later, The Monroe Doctrine Is Still The Best Protector Of U.S. Interests

Image
By Casey Wheatland The Monroe Doctrine is the blueprint for returning to a realistic grand strategy that can preserve American liberty from threats foreign and domestic. This month marks the 200th anniversary of the Monroe Doctrine. If celebration (or even acknowledgment) seems muted, that may be because policymakers and the public know little about the principles and grand strategy underlying the doctrine. Few likely understand the doctrine because its meaning has been distorted throughout American history, especially in the Progressive Era by Theodore Roosevelt’s corollary. Some see it, for  better  or  worse , as the beginning of America’s commitment to maintaining an international order by arms and diplomacy. But this is incorrect. The Monroe Doctrine was not a blueprint for establishing an international order, or even for American involvement throughout the Western Hemisphere. It was an expression of the moral principles and strategic thinking that animated...

With Just Five Sentences, Emerald Robinson Encapsulates the Problem With the Republican Establishment

Image
By J.D. Rucker The Republican Party has a problem. Okay, so they have a lot of problems, but the most glaring problem affects them from both the electoral perspective as well as on the policy side. As independent conservative journalist  Emerald Robinson pointed out , the GOP has a problem with picking who is going to represent the “future” of the party, especially with their presidential candidates.. The GOP thinks Nikki Haley is the future of the party. In 2016, the GOP thought Jeb Bush was the future of the party. In 2012, the GOP thought Mitt Romney was the future of the party. In 2008, the GOP thought John McCain was the future of the party. The GOP thinks Nikki Haley is the future of the party. In 2016, the GOP thought Jeb Bush was the future of the party.
