LAURA WIDENER The new privately-constructed 1-mile stretch of U.S.-Mexico border wall reportedly lacks proper permits and New Mexico city officials have issued a cease-and-desist letter. A spokesperson for Sunland Park, New Mexico said that We Build The Wall Inc., the organization behind the wall’s construction, did not obtain necessary construction permits from the city before it constructed the 1-mile-long wall on private property near Sunland Park and El Paso, Texas, The Texas Tribune  reported  Tuesday. The group had crowd-funded more than $22 million to build a portion of the southern border wall, and this 1-mile stretch cost between $6 and $8 million and was put up in about three days. “The city has not provided any permits, it has not approved of the construction that has gone up already,” spokesp...

Satanic Temple to challenge Supreme Court abortion ruling on fetal remains

Image
By  Louis Casiano  | Fox News The  Satanic Temple  said Tuesday that in the name of religious liberty, it would challenge a  Supreme Court  ruling that upheld an Indiana law requiring the  burial or cremation of fetal remains . The group, based in Salem, Mass., has declared immunity for its members from the law, it said in a news release. “One of the Satanic Temple’s fundamental tenets is the inviolability of one’s body,” the group said in a statement. “Members ... believe that nonviable fetal tissue is part of the woman who carries it.” The Satanic Temple declares its members exempt from Indiana law regarding fetal remains pic.twitter.com/nPDvl1W6xv — The Satanic Temple (@satanic_temple_) May 29, 2019 The international organization doesn’t worship or believe in the actual Satan from the Bible. It mostly advocates for separation of church and state. “This law clearly places an undue burden on the religious practice...

2020 Democrats Renew Impeachment Frenzy After Robert Mueller Speaks

Image
Several Democrat presidential candidates on Wednesday took to social media to call on Congress to begin impeachment proceeding against President Donald Trump following special counsel Robert Mueller’s press conference about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) declared Mueller’s statement “makes clear” that his report is an “impeachment referral” for Congress to act upon. “They should,” she declared. Mueller’s statement makes clear what those who have read his report know: It is an impeachment referral, and it’s up to Congress to act. They should. — Elizabeth Warren (@ewarren) May 29, 2019  The Massachusetts Democrat then listed three areas in which she believes the special counsel left “no doubt” regarding his findings. “1) He didn’t exonerate the president because there is evidence he committed crimes. 2) Justice Department policy prevented him from charging the president with any crimes. 3) The Constitution leav...

Texas Passes Bill Allowing Gun Owners Fleeing Disasters To Carry Their Firearms With Them

Image
DAILYWIRE.COM Julie Dermansky/Corbis via Getty Images By   ASHE SCHOW  @ASHESCHOW May 29, 2019 One’s Second Amendment rights should not end when one is fleeing a disaster. That’s the basis for a recently passed bill in Texas, which would relax some of the state’s gun laws regarding when a person can carry a handgun in the event of a natural disaster. Under current law, it is unlawful for a person to carry a weapon off of their own property or on route to or from their vehicle or “watercraft.” Firearm owners also could not carry a handgun in their vehicle unless properly licensed and in a holster, on “certain prohibited premises” (schools, polling places, courts, or racetracks), or at hospitals, amusement parks, or places of worship. These seem like pretty standard laws, but the bill passed by the legislature,  HB 1177 , would apply exceptions to current gun laws for those evacuating during a disaster. This is not a free-for-all bill. The excep...

Charlie Kirk: ‘If Democrats and the Left’ Kill Electoral College, ‘We Can Never Win Another Election’

Image
Tamir Kalifa/Associated Press ROBERT KRAYCHIK Charlie Kirk, founder and executive director of Turning Point USA, explained a political push from Democrats and the broader left to circumvent the electoral college and determine presidential elections via the popular vote. He offered his analysis in a Tuesday interview on SiriusXM’s  Breitbart News Daily  with host Alex Marlow. The National Popular Vote is a campaign to  evade  the electoral college via an interstate compact wherein partner states — via their own statewide legislation — agree to cast their electoral votes based on the national popular vote, regardless of how their own state’s citizens voted. “Few people actually realize that Democrats and the left have done this in 15 states, already,” began Kirk. “This is called the National Popular Vote Compact — an interstate compact — where essentially states have agreed to send their electoral votes to the winner of the popular.” LISTEN : “It’s kin...

Our good buddy Willie told me about this last night. President Donald Trump delivered a Memorial Day speech aboard the USS Wasp on Monday, currently deployed in the Pacific. “Our Republic endures because of brave men and women who are willing to lay down their lives to defend us all,” he  said  to the troops gathered on the ship. “Our freedom is earned through the blood and sweat and toil and sacrifice of great American patriots just like you.” The president and first lady traveled to the ship after completing their visit to Japan. Trump honored the fallen warriors of the Armed Forces, recognizing the historic importance of Memorial Day in the United States. “Memorial Day links every grateful American heart, an eternal tribute to those brave souls who gave their last breath for our nation,” Trump said. Trump praised the armed forces deployed in the Pacific, noting that their service was appreciated by Americans at home. “The citizens of our country are incred...

First-ever private border wall built in New Mexico

Image
Half-mile section to close 'gap' in Border Patrol's fence By  Stephen Dinan   - The Washington Times - Monday, May 27, 2019 A private group announced Monday that it has constructed a half-mile wall along a section of the U.S.-Mexico border in New Mexico, in what it said was a first in the border debate. The 18-foot steel bollard wall is similar to the designs used by the Border Patrol, sealing off a part of the border that had been a striking gap in existing fencing, according to We Build the Wall, the group behind the new section. The section was also built faster and, organizers say, likely more cheaply than the government has been able to manage in recent years. Kris Kobach , a former secretary of state in Kansas and an informal immigration adviser to President Trump, says the New Mexico project has the president’s blessing and says local Border Patrol agents are eager to have the assistance. “We’re closing a gap that’s been a big headache for them,”...

Mark Cuban Suggests Changing Second Amendment in Three Ways

Image
By  WARNER TODD HUSTON Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban recently made a series of suggestions about how to “update” the Second Amendment to give states more power to regulate guns. “I would go to change the Second Amendment in ways that people probably wouldn’t expect,” Cuban  told  Yahoo Editor-in-Chief Andy Serwer. The billionaire noted that he felt the various state governments should have more power to limit guns. “States have the right to manage the ownership — —the purchase, ownership, and management — of guns owned and held within their borders,” the  Shark Tank  star said. “If you live in a state like Texas, if the law in Texas is open carry, so be it,” Cuban continued. “If you live in Pennsylvania where they are more stringent, and they don’t want you to be able to have a gun other than in your own premises or under lock and key or you have to do a background check, then that’s up to them to decide.” Contradictorily, though, Cuban als...
