New: Nancy Guthrie Case Escalates, Multiple Detained After SWAT Raid, Range Rover Covered in a Tarp

By Bonchie

Multiple major events happened overnight in Arizona, as police continued their investigation of Nancy Guthrie's disappearance. The escalation began with a SWAT raid near the missing's home and escalated further with a Range Rover being pulled over and then covered with a tarp.

NewsNation's Brian Entin was on the scene when a mixture of local and federal authorities arrived. He was eventually told to exit the perimeter but reported that none of the law enforcement had left at that point.

Shortly after that news broke, reports of multiple people being detained began to roll in, including one person "in handcuffs."

The caveat is that anyone at the property would technically be detained during the execution of a search warrant. As of this writing, we don't know if any actual arrests were made. The detainees were described as either two or three men and a "mom" by various sources.

It is important to note that this operation was connected to the Guthrie case. The Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed that shortly before midnight local time, saying it was a joint operation with the FBI and that no additional information is currently available.

That wasn't the end of it, though. Sometime later, a Range Rover was surrounded at a nearby Culver's restaurant. Videos showed FBI agents and PCSD deputies, indicating this was also connected to the Guthrie case, covering it with a tarp as they examined something inside.

That vehicle was then loaded onto a flatbed truck and taken into custody, presumably to be forensically investigated. Some have speculated that a body was found, but that seems highly unlikely. There was no sign of anyone being removed from the trunk, and the scene itself was abandoned after the Range Rover was hauled off.

This is a developing story.

Updated [1:06 PM ET]: The Pima County Sheriff's Department made no arrests in connection with the overnight law enforcement operation, according to reports:

An operation linked to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance Friday night ended without any arrests, a law enforcement official says. More than a dozen vehicles, including those from SWAT and forensics, were seen at the location before roads reopened after about four hours.
