Shutdown Showdown: GOP Plans Big New Beautiful Bill

Image
By Ward Clark With another Schumer Shutdown causing headaches across the fruited plain, a midterm election fast approaching, and hyper-partisan Democrats seemingly determined to block any Republican effort at any cost, the Republican members of the House of Representatives and the Senate are now planning " One Big Beautiful Bill 2 - This Time, it's Personal. "  In a hyper-partisan Congress that’s facing midterm elections, Republicans in both chambers have united on a plan to pass a second budget reconciliation bill before the balance of power potentially changes. Their previous reconciliation bill, the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” focused primarily on President Donald Trump’s tax policies, including permanently extending the increased standard deductions from 2017. It also restrained the growth of Medicaid spending over the next ten years and tightened work requirements for both Medicaid and SNAP. Now, after two Democrat-instigated government shutdowns –  the second of w...

BREAKING: Judge Stops Trump's Construction on White House Ballroom

Image
By Sarah Anderson President Donald Trump has been having a great time building the new White House Ballroom in recent months, but anytime the president is having a good time doing something, a judge comes in and stops him. Apparently, that expands to this $400 million, 90,000 square-foot construction project that is said to be fully funded by private donors. U.S. District Judge Richard Leon determined on Tuesday that no statute comes close to allowing Trump to carry out this project of his own accord, and that construction must be halted until Congress approves the completion. So, I guess we're just stuck with a half-finished project? 🚨 BREAKING: A federal judge has ruled that work on President Trump’s White House Ballroom “has to stop” [ @CNN ] pic.twitter.com/Z5pIFnU0wD — Politics US (@PolitlcsUS) March 31, 2026 Trump began the project in October after demolishing the East Wing of the White House, something the left in this country seemed to find incredibly offensive for s...

Liberals Won’t Confront Fraud Because They Still Believe Government Is The Solution

Image
By Nathanael Blake At least the bombs are real. New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof has pulled out the hoariest of boomer liberal tropes,  asking  what the money spent on war could buy if redirected to welfare programs. Examples include “For less than three weeks of war, or $35 billion, we could run a nationwide pre-K program for 3- and 4-year-olds,” and “For $75 million, about an hour’s worth of war, we could provide three books free to every child in America who is living under the poverty line.” Ah yes, we could fund so many Minneapolis daycares and “ Quality Learing ” centers. I don’t know how our campaign against the mullahs will turn out, but it has real bombs being dropped on real targets with people really dying. In contrast, the sorts of programs Kristof promotes as better recipients of taxpayer money tend to be more ephemeral in their results — and that’s assuming that the recipients even exist. To cite a few examples that even a New York Times columnist ou...

Refund Amounts Soar by Double Digits As Americans Take Advantage of New Deductions That Dems Opposed

Image
By Bob Hoge It's coming: the day that most Americans dread, April 15, Tax Day. After completing your financial proctology exam, you dutifully file away and hope for a good outcome. (It doesn’t always go your way: I once got randomly audited, and let me tell you, it  sucked. ) This year, however, many taxpayers may be in for a pleasant surprise as President Trump’s tax policies are having a major effect. The White House celebrated what they say is their historic gift to the people: President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts (Which Every Democrat Opposed) Is Delivering Historic Relief https://t.co/hh7cpHXDGC — Rapid Response 47 (@RapidResponse47) March 31, 2026 On the official  White House webpage , they reminded voters on Tuesday that lowering taxes for regular Americans was never on the Democrats’ agenda (emphasis theirs): Millions of American workers, families, and small business owners are seeing the real results of President Donald J. Trump’s signature  Working ...

SCOTUS Deals Major Blow to Colorado Conversion Therapy Ban

Image
By Susie Moore We're still awaiting the Supreme Court decision in the Voting Rights Act case (among others) and Wednesday's oral argument on birthright citizenship — which should be fascinating. But the High Court did hand down a significant decision on Tuesday, this one having to do with free speech/the First Amendment.  In  Chiles v. Salazar , the Court was asked to examine whether a Colorado law that censors certain conversations between counselors and their clients based on the viewpoints expressed regulates conduct or violates the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment.  Now, before I go further, I want to pick a nit: What the Court did  not  do in Tuesday's decision was strike down the Colorado law — nor did it directly hold that the law is unconstitutional. What it did do is strongly signal that the law, as applied to talk therapy (i.e., speech, rather than conduct),  likely  violates the First Amendment, and send it back to the lower cou...

Iran on the Brink: President Pezeshkian Held ‘Hostage,’ Barred From Negotiating With Trump

Image
By Scott Pinsker Congratulations to legendary lovebirds Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky: According to the Starr Report, today is the 30th anniversary of a very specific Oval Office interaction that, ahem,  involved a cigar . After all the torrid details became public record,  President Clinton blamed his “indiscretions” on the turmoil and turnover from the government shutdown . (Because, obviously, the Lewinsky affair was all Newt Gingrich’s fault.) Here we are, 30 years later — and this time, there’s a grownup in the White House. (Good thing too, because once again, there was a government shutdown.) But instead of lighting up a cigar, President Donald Trump is lighting up Tehran. As our World War II vets used to say , “Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em!” Whereas President Clinton was led by his libido, the current president is answering the siren’s call of history — and stands on the precipice of the greatest foreign policy victory since our World War II vets were killing Nazis. ...

The French Straw Just Broke NATO's Back

Image
By Bonchie The American relationship with NATO has never been more strained. Despite decades upon decades of propping up Europe's defense while its leaders spend all their money on welfare programs and mass migration, the United States is now having to fight over something as mundane as transiting the airspace of its alleged "allies." According to President Donald Trump, France denied the use of its airspace to American cargo planes transporting munitions to Israel as part of Operation Epic Fury. 🚨Trump: “The Country of France wouldn’t let planes headed to Israel, loaded up with military supplies, fly over French territory. France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the “Butcher of Iran,” who has been successfully eliminated! The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!! President… pic.twitter.com/dWSEhPuenp — Raylan Givens (@JewishWarrior13) March 31, 2026 France, the United Kingdom, and Germany have been asked to do very little in support of this mission. When Birthright Citizenship Goes Wrong

Image
Birthright citizenship, as liberals understand it — and as they hope the Supreme Court will uphold it — leads to absurdities, and worse.   By Daniel McCarthy Get ready for the next Roe v. Wade — only this time the Supreme Court decision that threatens to split the country isn’t about abortion; it’s about “birthright citizenship.” Trump v. Barbara is before the Court this week, and with it comes the very question of who is an American. On his first day back in office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order clarifying that the children of illegal immigrants or temporary residents aren’t American citizens just by virtue of being born on American soil. People born here to at least one citizen parent are automatically citizens, and Trump’s order recognizes the children of lawful permanent residents as birthright citizens, too. But that’s not enough for those who insist the Constitution’s 14th Amendment establishes a radical definition of birthright citizenship: Since even ille...
