USA Reclaims Hockey Gold, Edging Out Canada - 46 Years to the Day After the Miracle on Ice

Image
By Susie Moore The USA Men's Hockey team has done us all proud and secured Olympic gold against the favored Canadians to close out the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. I haven't watched a ton of Olympic coverage this time around, but I did catch this game, and it was well worth it. February 22nd was already a significant date in American history — after all, it was on this day, in 1732, that our nation's first president, George Washington, was born. Canadians never stood a chance. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/vk5vTDtSfS — Geiger Capital (@Geiger_Capital) February 22, 2026 Also on this day, in 1980, the USA defeated the Soviet Union in a medal-round game of the Men's ice hockey tournament at the Lake Placid, New York, Winter Olympics (going on two days later to defeat Finland and secure the gold medal).  Exactly 46 years later... Team USA's first men's ice hockey GOLD since the miracle on ice. 🇺🇸🏒 #MilanoCortina2026 #LakePlacid1980 pic.twitter.com/Z2rajwxM4G —...

JPMorgan Chase Admits to Jan. 6 Trump Debanking

Image
President Donald Trump and JPMogan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon By Associated Press JPMorgan Chase acknowledged for the first time that it closed the bank accounts of President Donald Trump and several of his businesses in the political and legal aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, attacks on the U.S. Capitol, the latest development in a legal saga over the controversial practice of “debanking.” The acknowledgment came in a court filing submitted this week in Trump’s lawsuit against the bank and its leader, Jamie Dimon. The president sued for $5 billion, alleging that his accounts were closed for political reasons, disrupting his business operations. “In February 2021, JPMorgan informed Plaintiffs that certain accounts maintained with JPMorgan’s CB and PB would be closed,” JPMorgan’s former chief administrative officer Dan Wilkening wrote in the court filing. The “PB” and “CB” stands for JPMorgan’s private bank and commercial bank. Until now, JPMorgan has never admitted it closed the pres...

Report: NY's Most Lenient Immigration Judge Gets Culled, and DOJ's Reaction Is Chef's Kiss

Image
By Becca Lower Remember during the first year of the Trump 2.0 administration, when the Justice Department started cleaning house, as part of the process of fixing the immigration system left in tatters by former Pres. Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris?  As we wrote, over 100 immigration court judges were either fired or left of their own accord. In another part of the change-over, the Defense Department brought in hundreds of lawyers from the military ranks to serve as judges. That seems to have kicked things into high gear. Syracuse University's TRAC program  showed  that almost 80 percent of asylum seekers were deported in the last quarter of 2025. And while this next big win also happened last year, it's the first time the details have been reported. Among those judges who were culled by the DOJ,  according to  an exclusive report The NY Post just published, was New York's most lenient judge, who doled out approval for nearly every asylum claim that came be...

Sen. Kennedy Tells Us What He Thinks of AOC, and I Can’t Stop Laughing

Image
By Robert Spencer Sen. John N. Kennedy (R-La.) is easily the funniest guy in the United States Senate, and would be the most hilarious politician in all of Washington were it not for the wit who currently occupies the Oval Office.  Of course, most of his competition in this regard is no competition at all, as politicians are historically likely to be people who take themselves altogether too seriously.  Today’s Democrats in particular are some of the sourest, unpleasant, and humorless people on the entire planet, so weighed down are they with the noble and never-ending struggle against Orange Man Bad, borders, gender, sanity, and common sense. And nobody, and I mean nobody, takes himself or herself or ximself more seriously than the average leftist who thinks that he (or she or xe) is nobly defending — well, not exactly the nation, which they want to leave borderless and defenseless, but at very least all the people who think the right thoughts and check all the proper box...

Image
By Susie Moore Update - 10:40 AM Eastern: Law enforcement has released a photo of the shotgun the individual was carrying at the time of the incident. Update - 9:40 AM Eastern: Law enforcement authorities held a brief press conference on the matter shortly before 9:30 AM Eastern. The officials who spoke were Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, FBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for the Miami Field Office Brett Skiles, and U.S. Secret Service Miami Field Office SAC Rafael Barros.  Below is a summary of what they shared:  Bradshaw At 1:30 AM, a security detail detected that an individual had made his way into the perimeter. Agents on the detail confronted a white male carrying a gas can and a shotgun. The agents ordered the man to drop the items — he put down the gas can and raised the shotgun to a shooting position. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy and two Secret Service agents fired their weapons and neutralized the threat — the individual was deceased at the scen...

Shatner Rocks: Because There's Nothing the Original Captain James T. Kirk Can't Do

Image
By Ward Clark I have very fond memories from my childhood, when my nascent science-fiction fan (and later, writer) self was awakened by a low-budget, three-season-long television show that in time, spawned a universe. "Star Trek's success was in part due to some great writers, some innovative takes on social issues, and a great cast who worked together flawlessly. But, of course, the greatest of that great cast was the Captain, James Tiberius Kirk, the man who made the Klingons invent a new word for "defeat." That franchise has largely gone down the woke tubes in recent years. But the man behind the original Captain Kirk is still going strong, even at 94 year of age, and at this late stardate, he's starting a new career - as a  heavy metal rocker . ‘ Star Trek  legend  William Shatner  is set to release a new heavy metal album pairing covers of staples by the likes of  Black Sabbath ,  Judas Priest  and  Iron Maiden , along with all-new compos...

Democrats' State of the Union 'Counterprogramming' Promises to Be a Clown Show

Image
By Teri Christoph If ever there was a perfect story to sum up the disarray that is the Democrat Party circa 2026, it's this one. The party looking to solidify its messaging ahead of the midterm elections – they'd like very much to gain control of the U.S. House of Representatives – is about to use the occasion of the State of the Union (SOTU), to be delivered Tuesday by President Trump, to serve up copious amounts of chaos and confusion to voters.  As RedState  reported  on Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger, who's been in office just over one month, would be delivering the official Democrat rebuttal following the conclusion of Tuesday's SOTU.  Schumer praised the pick of Spanberger, claiming she is someone who "has always put service over politics. She knows Americans want lower costs, safer communities, and a stronger democracy — not chaos and corruption. Gov. Spanberger will lay out a clear path...

State Dept. Site to Provide Content Ban Workaround

Image
THE STATE DEPARTMENT registered the freedom.gov domain name in mid-January, though no launch date has been announced. By Ryan King The State Department is developing an internal portal to give foreign nationals in Europe and elsewhere a tool to skirt their home country’s governmental content moderation policies. Sporting the domain “freedom.gov,” the portal being developed is intended to help combat internet censorship around the world, including by European allies. “Digital freedom is a priority for the State Department, however, and that includes the proliferation of privacy and censorship-circumvention technologies like VPNs [virtual private networks],” a State Department official told The Post. The official stressed that the web portal, which was first reported by Reuters, is not specific to Europe and that there is no set date for when it will launch. At the moment, the website, whose domain was registered last month, features text proclaiming, “Freedom Is Coming” and “I...

Thermite and Guns at Electrical Substation: LVMPD Thwarts a Potential Catastrophe

Image
By Ward Clark We focus a lot on the various forces of Islamic terrorism around the world, and that's justified; there are far too many jihadi goblins out there. But once in a while we are reminded that we have our own, home-grown nutjobs, too. One such is one Dawson Noah Maloney, who sent himself to his own just deserts after an aborted attack on a Las Vegas-area power substation. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has  released some chilling details . Here's the thread: #BREAKING TERRORISM UPDATE – JOINT INVESTIGATION LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill was joined this afternoon by Chief Timothy Shea of the Boulder City Police Department and Special Agent in Charge Chris Delzotto of the FBI Las Vegas Field Office to provide an update regarding a… pic.twitter.com/8cC7huYthL — LVMPD (@LVMPD) February 20, 2026 The initial X post in the thread continues: ...to provide an update regarding a critical incident that began last night near Boulder City.  On Feb. 19, 2...

Trump Reshaping World Trade Despite Nonstop Noise

Image
THE SUPREME COURT tariff ruling was a setback only for those who aren't paying attention to the international trade reset occurring behind the scenes. By Matthew Lynn It’s turning into a familiar ritual. President Trump imposes fresh tariffs, often announced on social media late at night, and within seconds the decision is condemned by officials and politicians from Brussels to Paris, Beijing, Berlin, and London. There are dramatic warnings about how trade wars benefit no one, accompanied by solemn declarations that Europe will not be bullied, and elegies for the “rules-based order.” The financial press dutifully chronicles the “chaos” and “unpredictability” of American trade policy, while CNN books another expert to explain why it cannot possibly work and the Financial Times runs yet another column about how the United States is only damaging itself. Then, a few weeks later, buried somewhere on page 17, a different story starts to emerge: Germany has agreed to new defense ...
