'Trump Broke the Law to Pay the Troops' Is the Hot, New Democrat Plan to Win Shutdown Fight

Image
By streiff As the country moves into its  second month  without government funding (30 days, 10 hours, and some minutes and seconds according to the official White House clock as I write this), President Trump has managed to pull the rabbit out of the hat for the second time. Unlike other federal employees, the US military will get paid  on time and in full . The Trump administration plans to pay  military members  Friday by using a mix of legislative and Defense Department funds, according to an official with the White House Office of Management and Budget. It would be the second time the White House has been able to avoid missing a pay period for troops  during the government shutdown , now in its 30th day. Service members are considered essential federal employees and are required to work during funding lapses, but essential workers typically aren't paid during shutdowns. The message being sent by the White House is pretty straightfor...

Allie Beth Stuckey Is Right About Men and Porn

Image
By Brandon Morse Last night, I got alerted to the news that Allie Beth Stuckey, a former colleague of mine, was being attacked by a great many people for something she had said about men. I saw the responses before I even saw the clip. So many people jumping on what she said as being "feminist" and attacking men, holding them to standards, while women like her refuse to hold other women accountable and set standards for them in the same way.  Then I watched the bit Allie was being attacked for, and I got angry.... but not at Allie. In fact, I was angry at conservatism.  Allie wasn't saying anything that demeaned men; she was attacking pornography and the effects it has on men. She noted that there are women who suffer from the grip of pornography as well, but that it predominantly hooks men, and porn makes men weak.  "Men, we need you. We need your masculinity and your strength and courage and we need those things to be harnessed for good." - @conservm...

Government Priorities: DEI for Owls

Image
By Sarah Anderson On Wednesday, the United States Senate voted against legislation that would stop the killing of barred owls in order to save the northern spotted owl.  This was the practice of the Joe Biden administration, and, for what it's worth, current Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum also supports it. I'm not going to pick a side here, and I'll get into the details in a moment so you can make your own decision, but I am curious as to how Congress can't end the Schumer Shutdown, but  can  spend who knows how much time talking about whether or not it should play God and kill owls. Our tax dollars at work.   S.J.Res.69  was introduced by Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) and co-sponsored by Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Katie Britt (R-Al.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), and James Lankford (R-Okla.), but it failed to pass in a 25-72 vote. The "yeas" were mostly Republicans, though a couple of Democrats — Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Kirs...

Michigan Halloween Arrests are Tied to International Terrorism, Top Fed Law Enforcement Source Tells Fox News

Image
By Fox News The arrests the FBI announced in Michigan related to a potential attack planned over Halloween weekend are tied to international terrorism, a top fed law enforcement source told Fox News. There is no further information available at this time. The  FBI said  earlier Friday that it prevented a potential terrorist attack in Michigan, arresting multiple suspects accused of plotting violence over the Halloween weekend. "This morning, the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend," FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X. "More details to come," Patel wrote. "Thanks to the men and women of FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland." In a statement to Fox News, Patel said the FBI’s quick response prevented a potentially tragic situation from unfolding. "Through...

Treasury Sec. Bessent Tells 'Losers' Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren to Stop Sending Him 'Incoherent Letters'

Image
By Bob Hoge President Donald Trump just returned from a trip to Asia, where he wrapped up several big trade deals with China, South Korea, and other countries in the region. Meanwhile, the party of Argentinian president Javier Milei,  La Libertad Avanza  (Freedom Advances), on Sunday tripled their representation in their congress after the country’s midterm elections, giving him a resounding boost and more power to enact his agenda. Neither of these things made leftist Democrat senators happy, and some of them evidently have been busy hounding Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent with their complaints. In one of the most brutal takedowns I have ever seen, Bessent told them exactly what he thought of them and the job they’re doing.  Specifically naming Minnesota’s Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Massachusetts’s Elizabeth Warren, he said they were “losers” who should be doing something useful like re-opening the government instead of buzzing around him like angry mosquitoes: . @SenW...

Another One Bites the Dust: Wyoming Wind Farm Coming Down

Image
By Ward Clark Protestations of climate scolds notwithstanding, many of the various assorted "green energy" boondoggles are collapsing of their own non-viability. As we continually see demonstrated, if a thing has to be subsidized to be employed, then it never should have happened. If solar and wind power were economically viable, instead of expensive and unreliable, the nation's various utility companies would have adopted them without government prodding. Case in point: A wind farm near Evansville, Wyoming, a suburb of Casper, that has been inactive for two years, is finally slated to be torn down. Now, if you've ever traveled through that part of Wyoming, you know that the one constant there is wind. But even there,  this boondoggle just didn't work . The inactive  11-turbine Casper Wind Farm  that sits north of Evansville, Wyoming, is on its way out. Chevron Power and Energy Management Co. spokesperson Patricia Enrico confirmed Thursday that ...

Watch: Pres. Trump and the First Lady Have Fun, As Halloween 2025 Arrives at the White House

Image
By Katie Jerkovich President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump stepped out at the White House on Thursday to greet trick-or-treaters who dressed in all sorts of fun, creative costumes. In a video posted by the White House, President Trump rocked one of those infamous red hats with the words "USA" across the top, and a suit. Meanwhile, the first lady looked festive in a fun khaki dress coat with orange and black accents. Holding baskets of goodies, the kids of White House staffers, the Trump administration, military families, and more showed up to shake hands with Trump and score some giant candy bars. There were kittens, princesses, ghosts, superheroes, and skeletons--and even Tinkerbell. There were also some cute pumpkins, and some Ghostbusters, along with cutest little green dragon we've ever seen. Anything but Christ: The Hidden Alliance Between Progressivism and Islam

Image
By Eli Shepherd There’s a thread running through modern culture that most people don’t notice, mostly because we’ve been conditioned not to. It’s the strange alliance between secular progressivism and radical Islam. At first glance, it makes no sense. One group waves rainbow flags and preaches “love is love,” while the other enforces dress codes and executes those who deviate from traditional norms. One celebrates “women’s liberation,” while the other, in some nations, stones women to death for being seen in public without the right head covering. You’d think these two worldviews would be natural enemies. But they’re not. They’ve quietly found common cause in a single, dark conviction:  anything but Christ. That’s the spiritual war that too many Christians still fail to recognize. We’ve spent decades trying to fight battles in politics, in schools, and in the courts, while ignoring the real battlefield, the one raging in the spirit. Every major cultural fight we’re ...

The Rise and Fall of Wikipedia

Image
Good afternoon my friends, Please read all the way to the end. The article itself is quite good, but it also mentions and links to Grokipedia. I have been exploring it, and it's quite good. Have a great afternoon! Tex By Jeffrey A. Tucker | Brownstone Institute The year was 2001 and the dot-com bust was in the rearview mirror. New ideas were in circulation among young and visionary entrepreneurs. Sure,  pets.com  failed and so many others but that was a temporary boom-bust.  The Internet will change everything eventually, we were told. Technology, decentralization, crowd sourcing, and digital spontaneity will create an information landscape without gatekeepers. Everything will have to adapt. The experts of the old world will be replaced by a people’s revolution. Whereas legacy elites waved credentials, a new class of revolutionaries will raise armies of servers and digits to move the center of civilization to the cloud.  Wikipedia was a headline...

Convicted Would-Be Trump Assassin Ryan Routh Requests Imprisonment in State with Assisted Suicide

Image
By Natalia Mittelstadt Ryan Routh, who was convicted last month of attempting to assassinate President Trump last year, has asked a federal judge to imprison him in a state that allows assisted suicide. Routh, who was found guilty on all five counts in September, told U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon that he is a “constant failure” and asked to be imprisoned in a facility where assisted suicide is permitted,  The Hill news outlet reported . He said he “still hold(s) out hope” that he may be traded for U.S. prisoners being held by a foreign adversary, which he suggested ahead of his trial and claimed he had made requests to “countless Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” but has found his recommendations to be “ineffective.” “Trade me for a Palestinian prisoner in Israel to have my spot in Hawaii, or a POW of Ukraine suffering in Russia or any prisoner anywhere that is suffering,” Routh wrote. “I’m unaware of prisoners in Sudan, Haiti, Myanmar or all the other places of ...
