Watch: Trump Declares 'Liberation Day in America' in Rose Garden Tariffs EO Event

By Becca Lower

President Trump took part in an event celebrating what the White House is calling "Liberation Day," with an executive order signing ceremony in front of assembled guests in the Rose Garden on Wednesday. He began with some brief remarks.

Katie Pavlich from our sister site, Townhall captured some of the proceedings in person. One of those moments was this image of some of the attendees, including members of the Cabinet and House Speaker Mike Johnson:
Vice President JD Vance was also present...
...along with a noticeable group of auto workers:
More on the workers in a minute. Pres. Trump began his remarks by calling, Apr. 2, 2025, "Liberation Day":
He also announced that the new EOs signal "our [nation's] turn to prosper and, in so doing, use trillions and trillions of dollars to reduce our taxes and pay down our national debt":
Pres. Trump talked about how the U.S. trade deficit soared to record levels under "Sleepy Joe Biden"-and how we have fallen behind compared to China:
Then, the president showed a chart with the tariffs our country will be matching around the world:
Here's a full list of the reciprocal tariffs:
Later in the event, Pres. Trump had a little fun with the auto workers:
Then he signed the two executive orders; one EO relating to Chinese tariffs on American goods, and the other to the reciprocal tariffs Trump talked about:

The president ended the event by shouting off-mic to Speaker Johnson about the ongoing budget process: "Get it done, Mike."

This is a developing story. RedState will provide further updates as warranted.
