Letters to the Editor - Election 2020

So, apparently, Letters to the Editor are no longer a thing. This is something that woke me up to write it last night:

On November 3rd, 2020, the American people came together to cast ballots to select a leader for the next term of the United States Presidency. To our shame, it comes as no surprise that this election has been debased with a deep and varied array of deception, intimidation, and outright fraud which casts the whole of this most important process of civic privilege and responsibility into irremediable doubt.

One candidate's leadership has, in his first term as President, produced some of the most profound and positive changes in our nation, and in the world. His charisma brought forth throngs of Americans of all kinds in support of his re-election. And he achieved all of this against an adversarial and mendacious press and the entrenched opposition of members of both his own party in government, and his opponent's.

The other candidate, a lifetime career politician, caught on video bragging about having committed some of the very criminal misdeeds falsely attributed to the first candidate, possessing an open record of plagiarism and other questionable acts, whose accomplishments in government have resulted in great human misery, could not draw a more than a score of "supporters" at any stop on his campaign.

And yet, we are expected to accept (if not to believe) that the second candidate has eclipsed the first in what has been an historic landmark in electoral turnout, and in spite of mounting evidence of meretricious criminal manipulation of the fundamental process of casting and counting ballots, unite under his Presidency, however illegitimately wrought.

"So excellent a king, that was to this Hyperion to a satyr." - Hamlet, Act 1, scene 2

Indeed, Americans are called upon to accept this new Presidency of the vastly inferior candidate amid the grotesque perfidy of election fraud, all the while listening to the gleeful planning of the putative new administration and its adherents to draw up lists of enemies to be punished for having dared stand up to them under the previous administration.

The media at large have suppressed the most important political story of our age, because to do otherwise would be to undermine their chosen candidate in this contest. Be damned the fact that, if this election were to end up as the AP called it, it would forever destroy any trust in the electoral process. This is no mere "close thing." It is the outright plunder of our electoral process, the theft of votes cast for one candidate to the benefit of the other, and the addition of many, many more completely spurious ballots, even further negating legitimate votes cast.

This election will likely find its way to the Supreme Court of the United States. While the Justices might harbor concerns about the reputation of the Court, or about the civil consequences of resolving the election, they cannot ignore the precedent which legitimizing this election would set. If such an incredibly unsubtle effort to subvert the election stands now, it will only embolden those who achieve their goals thusly, and we will never have another legitimate election again. It would bring the United states of America under the Dominion (a name one might easily imagine was not idly selected for the computer program responsible for much of the alleged voting irregularities) of the anti-American movement metastasizing throughout the socio-political Left. This would put Americans accustomed to living in Liberty under the Rule of Law in an untenable position. The results could be far worse than any resulting from overturning the ballot fraud in clear evidence.

Let us hope that those called upon to judge it find that the evidence is sufficient to undo this crisis, and to prevent a greater crisis which might result.
