Of Tolerance, Diversity, and Authoritarian Hatred

Image
Steve Scalise, now House minority leader, was shot and nearly killed during practice for the 2017 congressional baseball game on a field in 'liberal' suburb. Now that J.D. Vance and his family call it home away from home, they discovered that leftists in a comfortable Alexandria, Va., neighborhood aren’t alone in their authoritarian tactics — or in their inability to recognize their authoritarianism. By Mollie Ziegler Hemingway In the immediate aftermath of the 2016 presidential election, the Alexandria City Council issued a statement on inclusiveness as part of the left’s hysterical response to Hillary Clinton’s loss. “Alexandria, Virginia, is a city of kindness and compassion,” the statement began. “Our city declares itself to be a hate-free zone. We are an accepting and embracing community where we treat each other with human dignity and respect. There is no place for intolerance in our community. This is a core value of our city. In recent times, many of our nei...

Harris-Walz Interview: Many Questions, No Insight

Image
Kamala Harris, shown here with Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, says her 'values' haven't changed. We still have no clue what they are. By Ingrid Jacques After waiting weeks to do an interview sans teleprompter, Vice President Kamala Harris left the American people with more questions than answers Thursday night. Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, and running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz agreed to a sit-down with CNN’s Dana Bash, but the pre-taped conversation didn’t offer any clarity about what we would see from a Harris-Walz administration. Since President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race in July, Harris’ meteoric ascension to the top of the ticket – and the newfound energy in the Democratic Party – has been fueled by a lot of feelings, but not much in the way of substance. It’s clear Democrats are thrilled that Biden is no longer their candidate. It’s less evident why they’re excited about Harris. Kamala Harris says h...

Biden’s DOJ Threatens to Sue Wisconsin Township for Counting Ballots by Hand – Insists It’s to Protect Persons with Disabilities

Image
By Jim Hoft The Biden Department of ‘Justice’ led by Merrick Garland is threatening to sue Thornapple, Wisconsin for not using electronic voting machines in their elections. The DOJ sent a letter after far-left  Disability Rights Wisconsin  filed a complaint alleging the rules make it difficult for voters with disabilities. The Gateway Pundit reported on this Friday. DOJ in Full-Blown Panic as Wisconsin Towns Thornapple and Lawrence Ditch Electronic Voting Machines in Favor of Hand Count — DOJ Threatens to File Lawsuit https://t.co/JPV2OKWxEt pic.twitter.com/cdRdYHweMK — The Gateway Pundit (@gatewaypundit) August 29, 2024 The regime is demanding electronic voting machines. Why is that? For over 200 years Americans were able to vote without the electronic machines that are  easy to hack and where votes can be altered. The left says this is about heling the handicapped. Is it really? It is interesting that everything the left fights for makes our elections less secur...

How Civil Wars End

Image
By Douglas Schwartz America has engaged in an increasingly robust civil war for decades. Beginning with the  JFK ,  MLK , and RFK assassinations; extending through  Nixon’s defenestration  coordinated by the  FBI ;  borking  masterminded by Teddy Kennedy to stymie Reagan; lawfare waged against Trump and his allies by the DoJ; capped by the DHS-enabled assassination attempt. This uniquely American civil war, experiencing minimal bloodshed, is the antithesis of our last one. Ours is fought with absentee ballots, not bullets. Civil wars conclude variously: battlefield surrenders; wholesale desertions; or combatants slinking from the hostilities, pretending it was a misunderstanding, begging the victor’s forbearance. There’s also Mark Antony’s option. His suicide ended Rome’s civil war. American political suicides occur when oblivious actors self-destruct, e.g., representatives Adam Kinzinger, Dan Goldman,  Ted Lieu , Corie Bush, Liz Cheney, or Ja...

Tim Walz’s Own Brother Considers Joining Forces with Trump, Slams Governor as ‘Unfit to Make Decisions About Your Future’: Report

Image
By Jim Hoft Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s own brother, Jeff Walz, has reportedly considered joining forces with former President Donald Trump, publicly criticizing his brother as “not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.” The discovery was made by conservative journalist Laura Loomer, who uncovered Jeff Walz’s Facebook profile, which contains a series of posts highly critical of both his brother and the current administration. One post, dated May 2023—the same day the Biden-Harris administration indicted Donald Trump in New York City—reads, “We’ve just become a third world banana republic.” When prompted by a follower to discuss these concerns with his brother, Jeff revealed that he hasn’t spoken to Tim in eight years and is “100% opposed to all his ideology.” He further claimed that his family was blindsided by Tim’s political rise and denied security after being selected for office. “Haven’t spoke to him in 8 years. I’m 100% opposed to all his ideolo...

Reports: Netanyahu Defends Hamas War Goals in Heated Cabinet Meeting; Slams Hands on Table, Demands Vote

Image
By Margaret Clark A shouting match ensued between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Thursday over whether or not to give up the Philadelphi corridor in the hostage negotiations with Hamas, according to reports. The details reveal a dramatic and interesting exchange between the two rivals where Netanyahu's cunning wins again, but Gallant is left furious.  A look at their histories will show stark differences in opinions even though they both belong to the conservative party, the Likud. In March 2023, Netanyahu actually fired Gallant over his criticism of Bibi's judicial reform and then reversed the decision in April after thousands of protestors filled the streets. Contentions between the two still remain.  Gallant has been mostly supportive of the war efforts but has criticized Netanyahu's plans, or lack thereof, for Israel's involvement in Gaza on the "day after." Now they are disagreeing on whether o...

Trump Vows EPA Rollbacks as Climate Becomes Hot Campaign Issue

Image
Shift back to fossil fuels and coal is promised if former president wins in November By David Jordan The Trump campaign is promising to rescind Biden administration energy-sector regulations intended to curtail greenhouse gas emissions to help the nation reach international climate targets. The move, if former President Donald Trump is reelected, would set a future Trump administration for a repeat of its first-term policies, in which a number of previous regulations related to energy and climate were either scrapped or weakened. On a call with reporters ahead of Trump’s campaign speech Thursday in Potterville, Mich., former Trump administration Interior Secretary David Bernhardt said current EPA regulations would force the retirement of power plants, ultimately requiring utilities to shift to an inadequate supply of “unreliable” wind, solar and battery storage. “A tsunami of new demand is headed for the grid, from the AI revolution, residential electrification and elect...

Brazilian Judge Blocks Access to X, Musk Says This Is 'Destroying' Free Speech 'for Political Purposes'

Image
By Becca Lower It's been quite a momentous day in the legal sense for Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X and space exploration firm Space X, among other companies. Earlier on Friday, we shared that he notched a win in a Texas courtroom, when a District Court judge ruled that a lawsuit that X filed against the progressive activist media organization, Media Matters, could go forward. My colleague Susie Moore wrote that "Elon Musk's X Corp. scored a legal victory on Thursday as a Texas judge denied the Motion to Dismiss filed by Media Matters in the social media platform's defamation suit," noting that "the case will now proceed with discovery and currently is set to go to trial on April 7, 2025."  Elon Musk Notches Legal Victory As TX Judge Rules X Suit Against Media Matters May Proceed On a less cheerful note, I previously wrote about the ongoing legal wranglings between Musk and authoritarian Brazilian President Lula's ...

U.K.'s ruling leftists remove the portrait of Margaret Thatcher from her 10 Downing study

Image
By Monica Showalter The United Kingdom drew oodles of praise in the press here for its smooth and cordial transfer of power, which was contrasted quite favorably against what has been in seen in the U.S.. That was then. Now the new U.K. prime minister, Sir Keir Starmer, has demonstrated something rather different. He's yanking down the portrait of Lady Margaret Thatcher, the country's greatest prime minister since Churchill, because he finds it 'unsettling.' It echoes President Obama's move to take down the White House bust of Churchill and ship it back to Great Britain since he didn't want to look at it. According to the  BBC : A portrait of Margaret Thatcher has been moved from her former study in Downing Street, weeks after Sir Keir Starmer arrived in No 10, according to the new prime minister's biographer. Tom Baldwin said he believed the painting of Lady Thatcher, who served as Conservative prime minister from 1979 to 1990, was now hanging in anothe...
